Napoli and Super Eagle’s talisman, Victor Osimhen sustained an injury in the club’s 4-1 victory against Liverpool at the UEFA Champions League. This has afforded club teammates and new signings Giacomo Raspodori, Giovanne Simeone and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia more game time to prove themselves. Thus, securing a starting position in the team.
Kvaratskhelia has been particularly impressive even before the international break. He has bagged four goals and one assist in seven games of the league campaign so far.
Raspodori on the other hand, scored in all of Italy’s games during the international break. This has led to speculations of him becoming the first-choice striker for the Gli Azzurri even when Osimhen recovers.
However, former retired Italy International, Simone Braglia believes this is impossible. He is of the opinion that they have not done enough to displace Osimhen from a starting position in the team.
In his words, “Raspadori has great prospects but he must complete himself. It would take a lot to replace Osimhen”.
Rapadori and Kvaratskhelia will still be expected to spear-head the attack for Spalletti’s side as they go head-to-head against Torino at home on Saturday, October 1 2022.
Osimhen has scored two goals and bagged an extra one assist in five league games so far, this season. He is expected to return next week for the game against Cremonese.
