Bundesliga 2022-23: how the match between Bayern and Leverkusen went

Bundesliga defending champions Bayern Munich took on Bayer 04 Leverkusen on match day eight of the Bundesliga. The match took place at the Allianz Arena in Munich on September 30 2022.

The Bavarians started strong and within the opening five minutes of the match had already translated their dominance into a goal. They ended the first half with three goals; with none coming from Leverkusen. Despite having a goal ruled out, Bayern still managed to finish the match with a 4-0 count.

Bayern Munich no.10; Leroy Sane’s strike gave the hosts the lead in the third minute. The German controlled and converted Musiala’s low cross with a fortunate deflection. J. Musiala got in on the action himself after a delicious give and go with T. Muller in the 17th minute. He drilled a low shot which the goalkeeper was a hair-breadth close to saving. Sadio Mane got his goal in the 39th minute assisted by the same Musiala.

The second half was more eventful as chances for either side kept coming. A substitution by the visitors at half time did little to curb the host’s pressure. The 56th minute saw Sadio Mane’s second goal ruled out as De Ligt was adjudged to have fouled Kossounou. Thomas Muller put the icing on the cake by pouncing on Hradecky’s slip. He slotted his first-time effort into the net in the 84th minute as Bayern advanced towards an uncontested win.

Bayern is placed third in the table. It has amassed a total of 15 points with four wins, three draws and one loss. Leverkusen accumulated just five points — five losses, two draws and a singular win to its name in the Bundesliga this season. Both teams have played in 8 matches.
