Round 14 of the Premier League kicked off with the Foxes welcoming the Citizen’s to the King Power Stadium. The match was held on Saturday, 29 October 2022.
Man City was missing Haaland, the league’s top scorer, due to a knock. This, however, didn’t stop them from grabbing all three points as Kevin De Bruyne scored a scintillating free kick in the second half. The match ended in a 0-1 win for the visitors.
Manchester City started on a high note forcing Ward to a save in the 12th minute. Rodri glanced a lovely cross at goal, following a corner, at Ward. Ward did incredibly well to tip it over the bar.
Ward was again forced to make another save five minutes later. KDB pulled a pass back from the edge of the box for the on-rushing Bernardo Silva. He rifled his shot straight at goal but Ward kept it out with his feet.
Leicester wasn’t without action of its own. Vardy broke through on the counter in the 24th minute. He passed it out to Barnes on the left who cut inside and hit a low shot at goal. Ederson did well to get a strong hand to it.
The Citizens finally got their goal just 4 minutes into the second half. Grealish won a free kick in a good position after being tripped by Mendy. Kevin De Bruyne stood up to take it and did so brilliantly. It was a powerful shot to the topmost left corner. There was nothing Ward could do about it.
Man City’s win took the team to the top of the table with 29 points in 12 games. Leicester remains in the 17th position with 11 points from 13 games.
