PSG took on Troyes at the Parc de Princes, for round 13 of the 2022/23 Ligue 1 season. The match took place on 29 October 2022 at 4:00 p.m.
The first half ended one apiece, to even the game 1-1. In the second half, PSG dominated and won the match 4-3.
The game started with firecrackers, as both teams pushed to score first. It was an end-to-end affair, until the third minute, when Troyes took a shock lead over the champions. PSG failed to clear its lines, and the ball fell to Rony Lopez who set up a volley for Mama Balde to bury.
20 minutes later, Neymar threaded a daring pass to find the on-rushing Carlos Soler, who rounded the keeper and leveled for the hosts, going into the break.
Balde, again, gave Troyes the advantage. The forward received the ball in the PSG area, turned and shot into the bottom right corner, in a situation where the PSG defense could have done better. The hosts were behind, once again.
Messi hit a screamer in the 55th minute to level proceedings for the second time. From 25 yards out, the Argentine blasted with his favourite left foot, recording his seventh of the campaign.
PSG, then, got in its groove and dominated for good spells after the equalizer. The home side went ahead for the first time when Messi sent Neymar through on goal and the Brazilian struck into the left corner for 3-2.
Confusion struck the visitors in the 77th minute. There was hesitation between goalkeeper and defender to clear the ball and Carlos Soler pounced in-between them. The resulting tackle saw a yellow card to the keeper and a penalty to PSG. Mbappe spared the team’s blushes and fired into the top corner to give the champions comfort.
Troyes eventually got a third goal, two minutes from match end. However, it proved only a consolation as PSG made away with the three points.
The home side extended their lead atop the table with a total of 35 points and a +28 goal difference after 13 games. Troyes remained at 11th with 13 points and a -4 goal difference from 13 games.
