EPL 2022-23: Preview of top 4 standings

With the international break over, our favourite teams return to our screens. The Barclays English Premier League matchday nine has got some mouth watering clashes in stock.

There are two great derbies to look forward to, this matchday. Two of the Premier League’s top four also go head to head in the famous North London Derby. And it’s second versus fifth in the iconic Manchester Derby.

The Gunners lead the EPL standings with 18 points from seven matches — six wins, one loss, no draws. The only dent in their otherwise perfect run being an away 3-1 defeat from bitter rival, Manchester United, at the Theater Of Dreams. Having beaten Brentford by three goals to nothing on matchday eight, they go into the Derby in high spirits.

Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City is second with 17 points from seven games. The team has five wins and two draws and remains unbeaten this season. Its super striker, Erling Halaand looks to get a third hat trick in a row at the Etihad. City takes on the Red Devils in the Manchester Derby on October 1 2022. A rejuvenated Manchester United which has overturned its early season woes will be no push over for the Citizens.

Tottenham Hotspurs sits third in the table with five wins and two draws, totalling 17 points. Conte’s men are unbeaten this season with their closest brush with defeat coming from their match against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. Son scored a hattrick against Leicester City, in Tottenham’s 6-2 epic win. Similar feats will be expected of the team by Antonio Conte.

BHA (Brighton and Hove Albion) completes the top four of the EPL. In just six matches, it has amassed 13 points from four wins, one draw and one loss. With the club’s fixture against Crystal Palace postponed, it has an upcoming game. On Saturday, September 30 2022, Brighton takes on Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool. The Reds are currently eighth with just nine points amassed from their six games.
