The summer transfer window saw one of the most prolific strikers in Europe move to Manchester City in a bargain €60 million move from Borussia Dortmund. His father Alfie Haaland, who once played for Manchester City, was a major facilitator of the move.
Haaland has since settled into life at Manchester City and scored 14 goals in just nine games!
Spanish giant, Real Madrid, has always been interested in Erling Haaland before he ultimately decided to move to English powerhouse, Manchester City.
Madrid, which is currently La Liga’s leader with an unbeaten streak of 6 wins, seems to have turned its attention back towards the Norwegian goal-machine. The team’s mega move swoop is planned towards 2024 despite the striker’s just concluded move to City.
With Karim Benzema still operating at world-class level, a new striker wasn’t seen as an emergency and as such, Madrid focused its attention more on French sensation, Kylian Mbappe.
According to Diario AS, Haaland still has plans to wear the Madrid colours and has insisted on a release clause being added to his contract.
Karim Benzema is currently 34 and Haaland is the plan to replace the Frenchman.
Haaland is not the only Man City player that Real Madrid is keeping tabs on with right-back Joao Cancelo also rumoured to be on the Los Blancos’ radar.
